Hi , I want to calculate distance and drive time between two points , does anybody know if there are a way to do that without using Calculate method ?

No

You have to calculate the route.

If you want a true distance you will have to calculate the route. However if you want an approximation you could use the straightline distance

for instance, JDist = gobjMap.Distance(StartLocation, EndLocation)

and then maybe generate an approximation of drive distance using a "wiggle factor". A factor of 1.2 is pretty reliable in West Europe and 1.35 in Central Europe (I don't know why!).

... but this will not allow you to create a journey time

I don't know exactly how to calculate the distance of 2 points but I know some sotware and scripts off the internet I found. Here is one setup by a English breakdown service. Only thing is it calculates distances and times in England. Sorry

John: Woe-betide someone who tries that formula in Scotland

(or some of the western US States)

A formula like that might work for a city with a regular or semi-regular road system, but would quickly break down if there's a natural barrier (eg. a river).
