How can I refresh the data link from VB

Hi All,

I'm a newbie to Mapoint. Just bought MP2004 and instaled the active x in VB 6. Would like to be able to refresh the MP Data link via my VB aplication, ie; on a timer ect. Looked through the object browser but cant find any ref to the linked data control! Question: Can I do this, or am I clutching at straws ? Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards

Flymoe

Flymoe,

Check out the UpdateLink method,

UpdateLink method
Updates a linked data set. If updating the link makes the data mapping invalid, the data set is remapped as a Pushpin Map. Does nothing if the DataSet object has a HowCreated property of geoDataSetDemographic.

Hi (Mo's partner in crime)

Lets tell the good people on here what were trying to do and that way give a better understanding.

We write software for the taxi industry and currently use a fixed bitmap image on which we display the locations of each car. It's ok but really a bit basic so we would like to use something like Mapoint to give some better features like the ability to zoom in or out.

Our system currently stores the co-ordinate information of the cars, both o/s and lat/long, in an Access database and we need to know if we can run Mapoint on a separate machine with some form of live link to this data.

Seems easy enough but we would welcome any input or ideas before we set off along the wrong track.

Bill
