I need to upgrade to 2006 fast, but am afraid I may miss my deadline.

I use functions like

mpMap.FindAddressResults()
mpMap.ActiveRoute
mpMap.PrintOut()
mpMap.Application.ItineraryVisible = false;


and use objects like:

MapPoint.Map
MapPoint.Route
MapPoint.Location
MapPoint.Pushpin

Has any of that stuff changed for 2006? If so, what?

Could it be as easy as using a new filename and path to the ppt file? Or am I just dreaming?

You should be okay. The COM interfaces for MP2006 & 2004 are backwardly compatible to 2002.

If your new build will only be working with 2006, then rebuilding with references to 2006 is probably a good idea but definitely not essential.

2006 adds some nice things, eg. a Location's longitude & latitude properties are set for all locations that represent a real point (even if they were created with a street address or something like that).

There are a few minor extra enumerations (eg. the night map view).

Also the collections tend to be more programmer friendly - you can use foreach functionality that wasn't available in 2002 (that one isn't documented - it bit me recently when I tried building with MP2002!).

I'd say keep your MapPoint 2004 CD's handy - make sure you have them in case you need to go back.

But as Richard says, it's very likely you won't need to change anything. Everything should work just fine.
