how to display custom layer by map scale

Hi all, I'm just wondering what's best way to display custom layer by map scale. My problem is that the imported custom layer would be too dense when the map zooms out to smaller scales. But if the data amount is large enough, delete and reload the dataset would take too much time for map to refresh.

Does anyone has a better way to handle this? What I want is that the imported layer will be only loaded once, and only displayed when the map zooms-in to a certain scale, just like the MapPoint built-in layers.

I think you would be forced to redraw or hide data according to zoom level. I think this would be very clumsy - it is something that MapPoint doesn't handle well.

Re: how to display custom layer by map scale

Does anyone know if MapPoint supports transparent symbols? I'm thinking to assign a transparent symbol to 'hide' the layer. I mean change the dataset symbol to a transparent symbol when map zooms out to a smaller scale and reset the symbol abck to a normal one when map zooms in. I hope at least we don't have to reload the dataset.

Hi,

there is a property to set transparant true or false. The transparant color is the first pixel in the symbol left, top (0, 0).
