How do i add new maps?

I´m a few days new user and buy MP2K Europe for a professional use. I use a especial DLL file to import data to be displayed on the MP2K. I have some questions but my very first one is, where can i download new maps for some countrys? Example: i want to have a 1:25000 scale map for a city in Europe (in fact Portugal), where can i have this map file?
I might do a very stupid question, sorry for that

Thanks in advance

Vic

You can buy map data from GIS data vendors which can be imported into MapPoint as drawing objects, but you may be better working with such data in GIS software such as MapInfo, Manifold, Maptitude, etc.

Hi and thanks for replay. I cannot use other software, only MP2K Europe version because i have a special DLL file to use with it. Is work is to read data from a flash card and convert ir to be displayed on the map. If i can import maps from another company it will be nice if they have the maps i want for the job. Any more info is very welcome.

Thanks in advance

Vic

What does your DLL do? Any imported map data will only come in as drawing objects and cannot be used to perform any MapPoint functions like thematics, routing, territories, and more. BTW, you might try AND Mapping for rough Portugal city data.

As a broadcast engennier i do a lot of RF coverage measurements. The equipment i use have a flash ram and a build in GPS receiver connected to a external antenna. I drive from place A to place B with this unit and get the measurements into the flash. At office i download this TXT data files and using the especial DLL it draw the travel i made and place the data i want in pushpins over the map. This is why i sometimes might need other scale maps, let´s say a 1:25000, because there are small point to point measurements, i.e, only over the town, only outside the town, etc, etc.

Thanks
Vic
