Hi,

I am our company's newly appointed Salesforce.com Administrator. We are implementing Salesforce in the organization for the first time. The organization has developed some highly customized sales territories in MapPoint, sometimes defined by ZIP Code, sometimes defined by other geography. I need to be able to load these sales territory definitions into Salesforce. I have not previously been a MapPoint user, but can point and click with the best of them.

What I need is to be able to do is to export from MapPoint to Excel a list of all ZIP Codes in the United States and the custom territory to which they are assigned (I could then load the Excel file into Salesforce).

I found the following solution online, How to export a list of ZIP codes for an area in MapPoint , But all this solution does is give me a list of all the ZIP Codes in the US, along with some piece of demographic data, like population. I don't seem to be able to choose the names of the custom territories when I "select the data field or column to map" in the Data Mapping Wizard.

One additional piece of Information is that the version of MapPoint being used is MapPoint 2006.

I think I'd have to see your MapPoint PTM file to give a recommendation, can you post some screenshots?

I think this might take a little bit of macro scripting to loop over your polygons, determine which zips are in each, and then write out to a report. I have tools for doing this, but again, I'm not totally sure what all would be needed until I learn more and/or get the PTM file in hand.

Thanks for your reply. I found the answer in another forum. All I had to do was to right click on the territory dataset in the legend, which I was able to find without much difficulty. It seemed fairly simple once I did it, but never having used the program before, I had no idea where to click until someone pointed me in the right direction.

Oh cool, for some reason I was thinking you were using Polygons, not territories. Glad you got it working!

I have just downloaded MP 2013 (thanks to Eric) and I am trying to figure out how to show shaded zip code boundaries (in a limited area) with other info as push pins on top of that. I can't find any instructions on showing zip code boundaries as shaded areas. Thanks for any help. J.
