How fast can one switch from Mappoint to Mappoint Webservice

    Hi,

Some customars asking for web service. We have a few but with minor possibilities, but cheap... I'm trying to push managers to get licence for mappoint web service, but managers only see costs

But do you think I can have a strong point because I have experiance programming with Mappoint ? Meaning if the API to use is more or less the same way, naming using, coding style, etc... ???

I have no problem writing a HTTP client, so that's no point, but the instructions itself ?

And are the possibilites more or less the same as with Mappoint ?

    Hi,

Coding the two are different. I'm currently writing an application using the MapPoint Web Service and have seen code using MapPoint itself and they are different. Also - the calls to the web service may slow your application down too depending on what your solution is going to provide.

Sorry Wilfried, I am slow to jump in and help answer the question since you asked over three years ago, but I'm curious if you ended up using the MapPoint Web Service. Did you? Have you done any Virtual Earth development? It looks like Virtual Earth came out just a few months before you question was posted...
