No you can't do this.
MapPoint supports a number of features which Streets & Trips / AutoRoute does not support. Also in previous versions there were data mismatches (S&T/Autoroute were updated more frequently) although this is no longer the case.

You can export data out of MapPoint 2009 and then re-import it

It's not really a built-in "export" function, but there are ways to preserve everything via various means depending on the data.
What do you want to get moved over to AutoRoute? Pushpin Locations? Maybe you can post a screenshot so we can see what you're dealing with.
The Pushpin Tool ($75) let's you export lat/lon but that's not the only tool.

The file that I would like to open in AutoRoute 2010 contains pushpins (places from around Europe where I have been). Why would you need a screenshot of those pushpins?
PS: I'll check for your answer tomorrow as it's already pretty late over hear on the European continent.
Do you need to preserve the pushpin symbols or data in them?

I need the puspins AND the very valuable data contained in them.
How about the symbols?

I wonder if you can copy/paste the layers, it typically works fine between two open instances of MapPoint. Open MapPoint 2009 and AutoRoute 2010 and go to the legend of MapPoint 2009. Highlight and "Copy" (control-C) the layer of pushpins and try to paste into AutoRoute 2010.
Let us know how it goes.
