I am currently using MapPoint 2002. Is there a way to print the data that you just imported or linked into your map? To be more precise, when you drag your mouse over a respective area your data you have mapped is displayed for viewing. It's this information I want to have available when I print a copy. I'm thinking the only way to accomplish this is to embed the custom map into a program such as Excel to view the data.

    Thanks for your assistance!

I would just draw a rectangle enclosing the area that you are interested in, right-click it and select the Export to Excel menu item. This exports the data contained in that rectangular area to Excel, and allows you to print it from there.

You could of course automate this by creating a Visual Basic application with the MapPoint ActiveX control where the data for the map displayed is automatically extracted and shown in a table below the map.

That's a great suggestion, Anonymous Senior Black Belt. How do you do that? I'm new to writing visual basic code. How would I do it in excel's visual basic where it would return the data back from mappoint?

Anonymous used to be very prolific on this forum until anonymous postings were disabled about eight years ago.

There's some code and examples for Excel and MapPoint at Working With Excel and MapPoint - MP2K Magazine that might help you get started.

Also, there are a ton of articles at MapPoint Articles - MP2K Magazine
