I have an excel spreadsheet that has number of houses on roads, can I link this to mappoint?

    Hi guys,

I am putting together an excel spreadsheet that will have the road name and the number of houses on that road.

Is there a way I can link this to mappoint?

Also I'd like to link in the average house price on that road, I will input this into excel also.

    Is this possible?

    Thank You

    Jason

Do you have the information for each block i.e. each road segment?

It would be good to have lat/lon or an address in the middle of the block.

Then you would import matching to the lat/lon or address.

Can you post some sample data?

    Hi Eric,

I got a few longitude and latitude coords from google maps, when I put in road name it appeared to show middle of road and then if you right click and click 'whats here' the coords pop up in the search bar. Is that how you normally get it.

I've attached some of the spreadsheet I have done (could only upload in PDF, I can email to you in excel if you'd like?), to show road name, amount of houses on each road and the middle of the road coords. Can i link this to mappoint? What I want to be able to do is create a database so when I need to I can click on road in mappoint and know exactly how many houses is on that road, then be able to print this/PDF.

Let me know your thoughts, thank you for your time.

EDIT: these roads are located in South Croydon, CR2 (greater London)

Yes, this can be imported into MapPoint, use the Import Data Wizard.

Do you want to do some custom integration/automation with Access?

When you say you want to create a database, what software are you planning to use or what do you envision? (I was thinking Microsoft Access)

I was thinking Excel, list of roads and house numbers along with some average prices of houses in there. Would microsoft access be better for this and linking to mappoint?

    Hi again Eric,

it worked! (see below) now I can put all the data I get and add the amount of houses to the middle of the road. Looks Ok right?

I haven't tried yet, but I'm assuming you can create routes on mappoint? I can now use this data to create my routes on mappoint

    Thanks for help
