I want to create a fairly simple map but have not had any luck so far. I ran across this site with a search. I want a two state map that shows distance lines, e.g. every 50 miles, from a center point. I also want to be able to edit the map to include my specific data (numbers) within each mileage band. Will MapPoint do this for me? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

Hope I’ve understood the question, and I’m assuming you don’t want to do any custom programming.

First of all highlight the 2 counties by reading in a dummy data value for each via Import Data Wizard

Eg

County Value
County1 1
County2 1

Then use the radius tool on the drawing tool bar to draw in the 50 mile circles

Then you can use the text box on the drawing tool bar to enter your custom numbers in the mileage bands. The visual results on this aren’t very satisfactory and you may be better using a graphics editor on the map image. A lot of my maps get included in Powerpoint slides so I often use Powerpoint to put on nicer looking add-ins.
