| According to the microsoft web site and EULA, it seems we are permitted to use the maps on our web site if we do not re-sell them for profit. However I want to verify that there is not some sort of commercial use restriction that prohibits our company from using them in the manner described above. Can you provide further clarification here? I e-mailed the Microsoft Permissions/Copyright Group (Law & Corporate Affairs), but their reply only provided a link to the Microsoft Permission Website, which does not address this issue.         |

The MapPoint license agreement contains two relevant restrictions. The first one is the "no resale" clause. In your situation, if you just post the maps on your website and don't charge your customers for viewing or downloading these maps, you are in safe territory. The other restriction is the cap on the number of maps you are allowed to post. This cap is 1,000 maps. If you need to post in excess of 1,000 maps, you need to purchase more than one license of MapPoint. If the number of maps is under 1,000, a single MapPoint license will suffice. |
