| Importing maps to show vehicle movements in an unmapped area I work on a factory site looking after the vehicles moving componants from one part of the site to another. If I could track my vehicles I reckon could make my operation about 40% more efficient. I have identified a potential supplier we could use but their control centre software is built on Microsoft Map Point. Our site is not mapped in any detail by Map Point merely as a greyed out shape and without the required detail, clearly the system won't be of any practicable use. I would like to overlay the greyed out area with my own more detailed version of the surroundings showing the private roads the vehicles use. Does anyone know a) if this is possible b) how complicated the process is and c) if it can be done what format should I choose for electronic versions of my map? Any help you or your readers can give me would be extremely useful. |

I think it is a very important thing you can import maps from others like ESRI or similar and with that import you can see the streets name or make routes the same way as the cities that MP have inside originally. The only way to import data maps form ESRI is by the add-in Spatial Data Import, but this one only draws polygons and polylines ... you cannot see street names, you cannot find any street of the imported city, you can modify the vertex of the polygons deforming them ... IT'S NO SO GOOD. |
