I was wondering if it is possible to import new layers such as .kmz (google earth extention) layers in Mappoint.

If you first translate the layer to a ESRI Shape file or a MapInfo mif/mid file you can use Microsoft "Spatial Data Importer" sample code to import the layer as drawing objects in MapPoint 2002/2004/2006.
It's not perfect or very flexible though, you might find the sample code needs some modification for your needs.
