I am new to MP. Can somebody please explain me the process of importing shapefile and the associated data to MP.

There are some methods for rendering shapes in the object model. These are like drawing objects, there is no attribute data associated with them.

Start by downloading the Spatial Data Importer developer sample and see if that works with your shape file, to do anything else such as rendering the shapes based on the attribute data will require custom programming..
