    Importing Three Digit Zip Information

    Anyone,

I am a new user (neofite). I created 11 sales territories in the Northeast US manually. But I would like to create these using my data (link or import). I tried to follow the help instruction to create a spreadsheet with 4 columns (ID,zipcode,Country, Territory). It is not working. I think my first hurdle is formatting the zipcode info correctly. I am using 3 diget zip codes per the help instructions. But do I need to enter them all (10-20) into the cell individually seperated by a comma or colin or can I enter some of them as 010-016, 018-027, etc.?

    Thx!

Importing Three Digit Zip Information & Territores

I moved your post to a new thread.

If I'm visualizing this correctly, you should actually have one per row.

    e.g.

    zip territory
    010 A
    011 A
    012 A
    013 A
    014 A
    015 A
    016 A
    018 B
    019 B
    020 B
    ...

Let me know if this makes sense and how it goes. If it would help, feel free to post a file as an attachment or lay out a table as I have done above to help illustrate.

Where are these three digit zip codes anyway? Glancing at this list it looks like MA? State

Re: Importing Three Digit Zip Information

    Eric,

I have attached the format that I was trying to use based on the example in the 'help'. I only entered zip code data in the first line as I know this is not correct, but shows you how I was going to do it. Obviously I am missing something, but like excel formulas, once you 'understand' you can do a lot with them. I am hoping you can show me the light.

I am a region manager in the Northeast and simply want to create territories for my reps using data vs. manually (I can do it manually now). Eventually, I would like to use sales data and push pins for their top 15 accounts, census data, etc. We have always used 3 digit zip codes as they allowed us to set boundaries quickly and they were in chunks that were not too big or too small (5 digit). Some territories are multiple states so I was hoping I would not have to list each zip code for each territory.
I tried to attach file-let me know if it is there.

    Thanks for your help!!

    Kurt

Re: Importing Three Digit Zip Information

See attached screenshot. I didn't flesh out your whole list, but certainly you will need to have one row per geographical unit e.g. one row per three digit zip code. Try it like this and let us know how it goes!
