Importing X and Y Coordinates

I am new to Mapping and GIS, so please forgive me for my ignorance.

In our county we use X and Y coordinates instead of Lat/Lon. Is there a way I can still import the data using our X and Y, without having to address-match which is a real pain?

Thanks.

There will be a transformation from x,y to latitude & longitude.
You could code this up with a bit of custom programming or even in Excel, to convert your x,y coordinate system to latitude, longitude.

If you're in the UK, MapPoint 2004 knows about Ordnance Survey grid references (essentially an x,y system) and can do the conversion for you automatically.
(MapPoint 2002 claims to, but has a bug in the conversion)

Richard
(btw, if you can give more details eg. the country and coordinate system, I could be hired to write the conversion code for you - it should be a very small project)
