got it to work!

I had been getting the same errors.
In the end I copied the contents of the Start CD to folder on my desktop, then copied the contents of the Run CD into this folder, then clicked on the setup.exe - I got MS Ms Mapoint installed successfully!

Local Installation error

Hi Guys,

It appears that some of you have had the same issue with a local copy of MapPoint 2004 throwing this network administrative setup error out there. I was wondering if anyone actually found a solution.

I looked into copying the contents of both disks to one directory. It appears the both cds share similar directory structures as well as some of the folder names. I dont see how i could copy them to the same directory withour jeopardizing the integrity of the installation. The CD volumes are named as per your posts yeilding me no success.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Paco

You can copy them into a single directory, no problem. Copy the contents of the first one to the lcoation first, then the second one. Then check on the top level and see if you want to copy the top level files from cd 1 to the location again.

Map Point Deployment

Guys,

I am trying to deploy MapPoint 2002 using Marimba. I used Windows Installer Package module available in Marimba to package this. The source files are basically those taken from Administrative Installation Point. I created the AIP by using msiexec /a x:\mappoint\data.msi and followed the instructions. But I keep getting this error message. "you cannot install map point over a network unless u preform an adminstrative installation". How to create a client Installation package to deploy? I know we can install it manually using CD on a machine, but how to make it work as a package?

Any Ideas?

I had the same problem, here's how I installed successfully:

1) Create a new folder
2) Copy all contents from CD1 to New Folder
3) Copy cd2run.exe and MapPoint folder from CD2 to New Folder
4) when prompted to overwrite files select "Yes to All"
5) to install double click cd1run.exe in New Folder

I did this from my desktop. It should also work over a network.

MSDN Download of Mappoint 2.4 did not seem to have run disk

I downloaded an ISO image from MSDN and it complains of needing the Run Disc. I only saw one disk image to download. Any ideas?
