    Just Registered

Hello everyone, I am looking to use MapPoint 2006 with a delivery company (US Linen) to plot routes and optimize the whole delivery and pick-up process. I have downloaded the software (2006) and will be installing it soon to start playing around with it. I have many demos being sent to me for the company to try out, and someone told me to check out MapPoint. Hmm, $300 for a route optimization software? Can't hurt to check it out right?

    Anywho, hi all.

For business mapping and single-route optimization, MapPoint is a very cost effective approach.
Going for MapPoint (rather than Streets & Trips) gives you flexibility with pushpins, and allows third party tools and add-ins to be used.

If you want multi-route optimization (eg. give me the best routes for 100 customers and 10 trucks) ten you will need something else. One option is "TourSolver" which is available for MapPoint.
Multi-route tools cost quite a bit more than MapPoint.

Thanks Richard. Now I'm trying to get a TourSolver demo to download or ship to me asap. Yeah, the cost of multi-route software is a bit costly.

As I think you've found, there's only a self-running "flash" demo - no proper demo, but Magellan will arrange for online Webex demonstrations.
