I am sending MapPoint a totally legitimate address yet it returns a NoGoodResult in the ResultsQuality property.

Here's the address....

"24405 CHAPARRAL CIRCLE", "MALIBU", , "CA", "90265"

MapPoint insists on recommending a different city, Cerritos.

When entered into MapQuest website it works fine and displays the address correctly.

Anyone out there experience this, and if so what was your solution?

What version of MapPoint?

When I paste the address into the regular MapPoint user interface with MapPoint 2010 North America it finds it fine, see attached.

We are using 2006. After investigation into this issue, I've concluded that the MapPoint 2006 database simply does not include the address in question. Which leads me to believe that the street and/or homes were constructed within the last 4-5 years and were not legitimate addresses at the time MapPoint 2006 was released.

Which also leads me to another question; is there any way to update the MapPoint 2006 database with current information?

Hi Bob,

Not really unless you manually look up the addresses and assign lat/lon's and then pre-process your data, probably not what you are looking for.

Usually one of the main reasons to get the new version is to get the street updates.

How many users or licenses would be involved in upgrading the MapPoint 2010? They added a lot of features with the API and new Map Settings pane --

Only one license is involved with this project. I'm developing an app for a newspaper distribution center and the desired result is to generate optimized delivery routes for each carrier. The distribution center manager is the only person that needs MapPoint. I will try and convince her to upgrade as that appears to be the only solution.

Actually, I believe there is a way to update your mappoint database. I've read that you can purchase the latest MapPoint 2010 and then simply copy the database files and replace the ones in your old version. Supposedly the format has not changed, only the content. Some website actually suggested downloading a free trial version just to get the database updates.

Sorry, I've been surfing for my own answers for much of the week and at the moment, I can't find the site where I read that.

If we purchase MapPoint 2010 I would presume that we should just use that version instead of trying to make the 2010 database work with 2006. I would assume that most of the properties and methods are the same and my existing VB.NET code would function without modifications.

Bob: Yes you are right: If you're going to buy MapPoint 2010, you might as well use it as it does include new API features and bug fixes.

Also Microsoft cannot support software that has a 'hacked' database like the above description.
