linking data to converted shapefile

Hi --

I have been able to convert a shapefile, that is then displayed on the US map, and I now need to link to an XLS file that has codes & data for the new territories. I cannot see how to do this. The territory wizard wants a territory id assigned to my imported shapefile polygons and I cannot determine how to do this.

Thank you for any help.

Bob

The territory wizard does not work with imported drawing objects, it only works with built-in geographies, that's why you need an ID (for instance a two character abbreviation for a state).

In order to graphically display the data associated with your polygons you would have to render them in different colors as they are being imported. This involves custom programming.
