You said something.. I still don't understand it or what you are recommending and why.

Note that there are two checkboxes under Miscellaneous Options
* Automatically parse links in text
* Automatically retrieve titles from external links

These affect the behaviour in which strings that look like a URL are handled.. I don't think most users understand them or know that they are there, but between the two you can control "auto-linking" behaviour.

i think you have to put as a rule no live links but [code][code/]

I think it's OK to have links.. we are frequently linking to things on other sites and it would be a pain for people to have to copy/paste a URL into the address bar all the time. So, we're not going to get rid of links.

What do you mean about the code tag or how is that related to your suggestion? I know URL's are not parsed in the code tags, were you just illustrating that?
