Location Sensor in MP 2009

My application controls MapPoint via automation and with previous versions it was necessary to turn on the location sensor which shows Lat/Long. In 2009 lat/long is listed in a status bar area by default but when I open the program in code, the feature shuts off. Does anyone know how to either turn on the lat/long in the status bar or keep it from shutting off?

Hi,

a workaround could be to calculate it yourself in the onmousemove evnet?

Re: Location Sensor in MP 2009

I have seen the Location sensor application article but I was hoping for something simple. It seems like the feature should work whether the application is controlled remotely or opened manually. I just haven't found where to turn it back on in 2009.

Hi,

I did a quick look in MP2009 and I cannot find it also. But to make it yourself is really a very small job.

Re: Location Sensor in MP 2009

Would it be easiest to write an add-in that has that functionality?

Re: Location Sensor in MP 2009

Hi,

Location object has Latitude and Longitude properties starting from MP2006. Was this your question?

Re: Location Sensor in MP 2009

The longitude and latitude properties are only set in MP2004 (and earlier) if the location object was created using coordinates.

The workaround is to use the CalcPos function written by Gilles Kohl. Search this site / mp2kmag.com for "CalcPos()". It uses a bit of trigonometry to derive the coordinate from the distance between the Location and known places such as the North Pole.
