My company used to own Microsoft Visio which worked excellent for exporting data from spreadsheets to maps where we could print out individual state summaries with various states broken down by region/county, etc. Microsoft has replaced Visio with Mappoint at a loss of some of the original functionality. Does anyone know why this was done and is there a better Microsoft product to use so that I may have some of Visio's previous functionality back??

I'm not familiar with the mapping functionality of Visio, but can you pick up an old copy of Visio off eBay or a used software store? There used to be some great mapping functionality in Excel using MapInfo technology that was also removed in the latest version(s) of Excel.
