Smile Map point

Hi I am thinking about purchasing map point - will it allow mw to colour code areas of the uk based on postcodes

e.g. if I wanted to colour code all of our hotels in north, midlands etc and then print a map etc - can this be done, if not is there a piece of software that can

please help

I think MapPoint would be fine for this purpose. For example say you have a 5-way classification of hotels. You can then read each classification set into MapPoint and assign a different Pushpin symbol for each set. The result is a map showing the geographic distribution, based on the 5-way code. Better still if you then click on any particular hotel the data you’ve entered will appear on the screen – occupancy rates or whatever. Also if you have all your hotel locations on a map you can then allocate them geographically by drawing a freeform around a particular group (eg all hotels in the Midlands) and exporting the data to Excel which is a very simple operation. Just using the package may be sufficient for your needs but, if you needed, exploring/manipulating the data could be made more elegant and quicker with the development of some code.
