How do you want the scale expressed?
I think 1:20,000 is equivalent to 1cm = 20,000cm or 200m (0.2km) does that make sense?
You could do the same thing with inches like 1in = 20,000in
20,000in is 1666.7 feet which is
1667 / 5280 feet in a mile = 0.316 miles
Is my logic correct? Perhaps someone else who was a Geography major but has more brain cells left can pipe in

Hi Eric,
Your brain is correct. When I ping my brain cells they reply with the same result in their ICMP packet
Hi Colin,
Is what you wants to do calculate the scale of the current displayed map ?

Hi,
Altitude is in miles or in kilometers, depending on the value of the property 'Units' (geoKm or geoMiles).
