ISC Announces MapDotNet Support for SQL Server 2008 Spatial Availability

MapDotNet and Microsoft Technologies Continue to Reshape Enterprise GIS

TALLAHASSEE, FL - November 12th, 2007 - Today, ISC announced full support for the spatial enhancements of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 in the 6.5 release of MapDotNet Server, their .NET GIS platform.

"SQL Server 2008 will set a new standard for how to deal with spatial data" said Mark Alexander, President of ISC. "When customers set out to build a spatial database with SQL Server, they are going to find that the painful experiences they may have had in the past are behind them. SQL Server 2008 deals with the storage and query of spatial information with a fresh, more natural approach."

MapDotNet Server is the .NET-based GIS platform that provides extensive support for spatial data visualization and analysis. MapDotNet Server also provides robust Microsoft Virtual Earth compatibility, and offers a starter application template for creating rich intuitive Virtual Earth applications out of the box. With MapDotNet Server and the accompanying SDK, organizations can create interactive maps that provide geospatial visualization and analysis capabilities.

Microsoft and MapDotNet innovations result in a powerful package that yields more intuitive solutions

According to ISC, customers worldwide are eager to take advantage of the latest innovations in mapping and GIS technology. The company is currently working with large and small local government agencies, as well as with commercial businesses around the globe. "Our relationship with Microsoft is important, and customers immediately see the value of our combined technologies," said Mark Alexander, President of ISC.

"Microsoft places a great deal of importance on partner solutions," said Kim Saunders, senior director of SQL Server marketing at Microsoft Corp. "By taking advantage of the latest SQL Server technology, MapDotNet Server helps provide customers the ability to utilize the spatial enhancements in SQL Server 2008 in their data visualization and GIS applications, including allowing customers to visualize, query, and even edit spatial data stored in SQL Server from within the world of Virtual Earth."

MapDotNet Server 6.5 with SQL Server 2008 Spatial Support Release Date

MapDotNet Server 6.5 is currently undergoing beta testing and will be released in November 2007. In addition to support for SQL Server 2008, it will provide support for the new features in Microsoft Virtual Earth 6.0, and will include upgraded map rendering capabilities, support for Windows Communication Foundation, profiling, event logging, and improved diagnostics.

Founded in 1989, ISC is a worldwide leader in software that combines today's latest advances in web-based, consumer mapping with powerful enterprise GIS (geographic information systems). The company offers a wide range of products and services designed to empower people through great geospatial software.
