Hey I'm having a little difficulty figuring out how it is possible for me to visually show the number of clients i have at one particular postcode.

Some advice on how to show for instance that 2 clients are at postcode A and 5 are at postcode B would be appreciated.

You can use numbered pushpins or various colored pushpins to represent ranges.
In fact, you might use a shaded area map instead of pushpins.

But how exactly do i use the software to do this? I am using the 2004 edition.

Using Excel
add two columns to Sheet1: PostCode, #Clients - Rename sheet to A-Clients.
add two columns to Sheet2: PostCode, #Clients - Rename sheet to B-Clients

Save file and close, open MapPoint.

Use Data Menu, Import Data Wizard, choose file (type is XLS)
Choose A-Clients and import as pushpins using a numbered symbol to represent #Clients for the dataset

Repeat for B-Clients
