I am trying to create some custon territories, but they do not fit into any of the "units of geography" that are defined. I would really like to draw them out on the map and then create a territory from the area drawn. Is there a way to freehand territories in MapPoint 2002.

You have to activate the panel of territories (mpMap.PaneState = geoPaneTerritory)

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, I didnt really understand what you meant. If possible, please explain how I do this. I can't figure out where to do this.

You can only create territories with the built-in geographies, I don't think miqui understood your question.

The only choice would be to use the drawing tools and create drawing objects / polygons around your areas.

I was afraid of that. I like the program, but I will have to say that its ridiculous that you cannot draw areas on the map to create territories from. I cannot understand why they do not have that as an option. We may be different from the majority of users, but our territories do not fit neatly into their built-in geographies. I am suppose to be deciding whether my company will use Street Atlas or MapPoint and at this point, for the price difference, I would have to say Street Atlas. Any thoughts?

Street Atlas is more comparable to Microsoft's Streets & Trips, to make a fair (and throrough) you might evaluate S&T and conversely DeLorme's higher end products.
