| mappoint 2004 vs 2006 ... turn-by-turn / voice support? In 2006, it seems that it does? I'm interested in quickly changing to 2006 ... is the price difference considederable? Just trying to get some advice ... thanks guys         |

The price is the same for the full version, but there is no 'Upgrade price' (was $230) for MapPoint 2006 like there was for MapPoint 2004. You might get a trial copy of MapPoint 2006 first so you can check it out. Also, the GPS / navigation features in MapPoint 2006 that were added basically bring it up to par with Streets & Trips 2006 if you have a copy of that you can check it out to get an idea of what MP06 has. from your experience, would you say that the API has fixed to include a more true turn-by-turn & voice prompting feature over MP04? I sent an email to MS for the price of MP06 active x control under the ISV program .. wondering if there is any difference between that and '04. thanks for your advice ... ST06 is pretty cheap so I think i'll go and pickup a copy. |

The API has not changed much.. you can get lat/lon out of the API directly so it might be a little faster or more accurate than the hack everyone was using. The only other changes I believe were the ability to change to the Night map style and you can open/close the new GPS pane, but you don't have any programmtic control over it. Quote:
