MapPoint 2006 capabilities

Hi,

I'm new to MapPoint, and I was just wondering if and how a few things can be done on it.

1. What is the best way to link an excel query to a map? Can a macro be used to do it?

2. Is it possible to change the colours of the pushpins provided? If so, how? (possible to a gradient of the same colour) If not, the best way to create and import icons. (when I do it, the are squares, that have a coloured cirle and then edges that are white...and thats after I made them transparent)

...I thought the MapPoint for Dummies book would help, but I guess not

Re: MapPoint 2006 capabilities

There's a "Link" Wizard on the same menu ias the Data Import Wizard. Try using that.

The number of colors are limited to aid clarity. Therefore useful color gradients are difficult if not impossible.
Transparency is set by one of the corner pixels of the pushpins.

Hi,

I'm not sure if you mean programatically but there is an ImportData method which can import also the excel thing, and you can add any bitmap yourself and import with ActiveMap.Symbols.Add method.
