Hello,

I'm new to this forum and also to the Mappoint Technologies, but this forum has helped me a lot.

I'm implementing a very simple VB.NET application using Mappoint 2004, that only needs to do reverse geocoding. I've found that MP2K4 doesn't support it directly, but by the other side I've seen that MP2K6 Europe is is going to be released soon.

So, my questions are:

1- Is MP2K6 compatible backwards?
2- Will MP2K6 be capable of doing reverse geocoding?

Hi,

Yes it is backwards compatible. You can go on develop using MP2004 until you have MP2006.

Yes, MP2006 Location object has a Latitude and Longitude property for reverse geocoding.

Thanks for the very very fast answer. Now I have two more questions:

1- I've heard someone can download a demo version of PM2K6 Europe wich works for 60 days. Is it true? Do you (or anyone else) know the link?

2- Where can I get detailed information about the PM2K6 Object Model? Everything I've found talks about MP2K4 or even 2K2!!!

When you get MP2006, the object model is covered in the help - and the MP help is the best documentation of the actual object model.

MP2006's object model is virtually identical to the one in 2004, which is virtually identical to the one in 2002.

In-fact, the above Longitude,Latitude properties are the most significant addition to the API! Nothing has been removed or changed. Off the top of my head I think the next most important changes are some extra enumeration values for different settings.
