Re: Mappoint 2009 pushpins

Yves, Your patch does add all the old push pin symbols to the default map. However when I open an old MP2006 file my symbols default to black push pins, not the colored flag symbols I originally used.

I can only assume MP2009 cannot map the symbols from an old file to the same symbols just added in by your patch.

Thanks for trying!

Did you have any success with the template?
Pushpin Tool - Wish List Wanted for next version

Also curious - how are your pushpins set? Could you just change eight or however many need to be fixed in the legend or would you have to change all of your individual pushpins on the map?

Re: Mappoint 2009 pushpins

There use to be a program on here, that when executed, presented a little window to provide which directory our map program was in.

I used it to convert the pushpins in 2009 STand Trips. Now I want to use it for MapPoint, but no longer see it listed here. All I see is the one where you go to the folder and replace some file. It doesnt work for me. Anyone know where that first program is?

Re: Mappoint 2009 pushpins

I don't know if this will help anyone regarding these questions, but I'll try to explain what I did relative to these pushpins.
I followed Marvin Hlavac's suggestion to go to Microsoft and download the pushpins to my desktop, in a folder I created. I then copied and pasted the ones I wanted out of the 256 available into a new folder.
Then I opened a S & Trips file, opened the "Legend and Overview" window, right clicked on the "Pushpins", clicked on "Properties", to open the "My Pushpins properties" window. Clicked on the down arrow to the right of the "My Pushpins" symbol and then clicked on the "Import custon symbol" tab. Navigated to the folder I had the new pushpins in and then opened the one I wanted to import. I only wanted 11 of the older pushpins and had to import one by one.
Hope I explained this properly and it helps someone who wants some of the 256 old ones.
Regards,
Mike Flannigan

If I understand correctly, it's right here actually at the top of this thread/discussion? Take a look.

Mappoint 2009 pushpins

I think there are three approaches to getting the old Pushpins back..

- Yves' patch solution above.

- Download the raw pushpins from the Microsoft Download Center and importing.

- Use the "old_pushpins.zip" template, also above.

Hope this helps.

I understand none of them may be ideal, but at least each of them could work.

Re: Mappoint 2009 pushpins

Hello to everyone on the MapForums site. I'm new to this site and this is my first post. I recently upgraded from Microsoft Streets & Trips 2008 to Microsoft MapPoint 2009. Has anyone figured out how to carry over the SAVED pushpins from Streets & Trips to MapPoint? I did the import thing. But I'm trying to import my personal saved pushpins from Streets & Trips into MapPoint. Any info on that?

Can you open both application and then copy/paste the layer?

I can open both applications at the same time. But I don't know what you mean by "copy & paste the layer". What is the layer?

Re: Mappoint 2009 pushpins

Open the Legends on each one of them.

Copy from one legend to the other legend.

Sorry I forgot that vital piece of information.

See if that works.
