Hi, has anyone installed MapPoint 2010 on XP SP3 with Office 2002? I'm not seeing the Excel Add-in automatically after the install like I do when installing it on a PC with Office 2007. If I try and manually add it in (C:\Program Files\Common files\Microsoft Shared\Geography\MPOAI17.dll) I get that this is not a valid add-in. Can't find anything from Microsoft stating if MP2010 is compatible with older versions of Office.
Thanks!
Is there a trial version of MP2010 Europe available yet? Also is there anyway yet that you can save Map files in previous versions - i.e. can I save a file in MP2006 format using MP2010 so that users who only have older version can still read the files?
MapPoint 2010 Europe is not available yet. I'll see if I can get a release date.
You cannot "save down" to previous versions. You would need to create the file using the old version.

Thanks - on another subject, can MP2010 work in layers yet (as you can do in Visio for example) for polylines and push pins and can individual polylines be joined together to form one line at all?
It's not nearly as sophisticated as Visio, but "layer" functionality is much improved with MapPoint 2010... you can now hide datasets and you have much finer control over the built-in cartographic layers with the Map Settings pane.
To manipulate shapes, see the MPSuperShape tool... it's an add-in from Mapping-Tools.com

Does anyone know if there will additional international versions of MapPoint besides Europe i.e. South America or Asia?
Thanks,
Gary
I just got Mappoint 2010 and I'm about to buy a GPS to go along with it.
I've narrowed my choices down to Nexstar Snap7 or the Garmin 7200.
Has anyone interfaced with the Nexstar Snap7? I need to enter address into mappoint, have it plot it out and send it to the GPS. I'm pretty sure the Garmin supports this (as per the MP2010 website) but I wondered if anyone knew if the Nextar does (without MSN direct)
Thanks,
Tangent
Tangent, it doesn't have to be a Garmin device. You can send addresses of your trip stops to any GPS navigation device that is capable of using GPX files. So the only question is if the Nexstar Snap7 can use .gpx files.
Hi
anyone know if the map data is any different in MapPoint 2009 Europe vs MapPoint 2010?
Thanks
Jonathan
