I'm currently using Mappoint 2010 and thinking of upgrading to 2013 however I have been unable to determine how many installations are possible with 1 box purchase. With 2010 I think there was like 6 or 7 installs you could do with the one product key. Just trying to see if it's the same for 2013. I have basically no budget for this upgrade and would only be able to swing maybe 1 box purchase, 2 at the most. Thanks in advance for any help.

Read the EULA (license), a single license is intended for a single computer, although it also allows for installation on a second, portable device such as a laptop.

I think MS allows multiple activations just because sometimes people get new computers or want to switch which computers it's installed on, not so you can share the software among several computers & users

Honestly I think if your company didn't budget for everyone to get the new version legally then just don't do it.

Then you can display 2010 data in MapPoint's old 2000 boundaries. You can't actually see the 2010 boundaries in MapPoint however.
Good morning! My bank also needs to use the 2010 census tract boundaries and I get nowhere trying to talk to Microsoft...they tell me "oh, yes, it includes 2010 tract boundaries!" when of course it does not. I'm getting the drift from the posts here that we are just out of luck being able to import the new tract boundaries...is that correct? Thanks!!!!

Sorry about your experience with whoever representatives from Microsoft you were talking to... you're totally correct, MapPoint 2013 does not have the U.S. Census 2010 boundaries built in unfortunately.

But you're in luck, it can be done!

I've been working with a few banks already on this -- mapping gov't data by 2010 census tracts in MapPoint 2013 and performing additional analysis.

I'd be happy to show you what we've accomplished thus far and see if it's the sort of thing you need. I sent you an e-mail.

I would also like to understand how to incorporate 2010 census tracks into MapPoint 2013. Thanks.

    Re: MapPoint 2013 Information

Hi, has anyone else run into this oddity (and hopefully has a fix)? Data mapping wizard > Sized circle (can be any other type), Next > Add demographics to the map > Pull down and select United States demographic data (this is the specific source we're seeing this issue with), Next > Population: total (2007) (can be any other data field) > Show the data by Metropolitan Area (this is the specific grouping we're seeing the issue with, happens with any data field), Next > Finish. What curiously happens is nothing. At least it appeared to be nothing. Then while waiting for a MapPoint technical support specialist, I absentmindedly started moving the map. What I noticed was that the data points are all in one spot, south of Ghana and west of Gabon, in the middle of the Gulf of Guinea. Speaking to the support specialist, I was told they couldn't assist, they only advise people to uninstall and reinstall. We're running this on Windows 7. Our volume license version is 19.00.18.1100 but this is also happening with the trial version of 19.00.18.2600. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If I need to post this in another section of the forum, please let me know and I'll repost there.
    Thanks everyone!
    Louis

Hmm, I'll try this later and post.

    You say
-- can by any other type and
-- can be any other day field

Seems to be a major bug.

Does it only happen with metropolitan areas?

    Re: MapPoint 2013 Information

Thanks for replying Eric. I was wrong about "can be any other type", it works for Shaded area (but Shaded area is the only one where it works). And yes, only with Metropolitan areas. But we did figure out that the fault isn't with the application, it's with the data. If we replace the USADemo.mdb in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft MapPoint 2013\Data with the USADemo.mdb file from MapPoint 2011, the results show properly. So the follow up question is, is there a way to modify that mdb or list the differences between the 2011 and 2013 versions? It seems like it includes the same dataset (2007 is the latest year of data) so we're hoping there's no loss of data "downgrading" but never hurts to be sure.
Thanks again and hopefully this helps others with the similar issues.

Good finding! Do you know the password for the MDB file? We could go in and do some investigation. By the way, how did you figure that out? With MS Tech Support? I am wondering if they know about the issue and/or solution, there should probably be an MS Knowledge Base article.

Eric, anything you can share in terms of how to incorporate 2010 Census Tract boundaries (or block groups would be even better) would be greatly appreciated. I bought MapPoint 2013 only to later realize I can't map the 2010 Census Tracts like I could map the 2000 Census Tracts in the 2009 version.

    Thanks in advance!
