MapPoint 2k4 Newbie question

Hi folks,

I'm in sales with a very large territory. I use S&T 2004 for my routes and territory info. This program is extremely limited and I am curious about MapPoint.

Where can I find out the basics of this program? I know nothing of it, but came across it on CNET.

Can I use it for PPT presentations?
Finding Addresses?
Does it update the maps? (I bought S&T 2004 and it didn't even have a main street on the map in my city!)

Sorry for all the q's!!!

It will find addresses, but map updates require an upgrade to the latest version.
Road construction data can be downloaded for free though - eg. if you're planning a long route it can tell you if a stretch of a freeway is due to be rebuilt or something like that.

I've used it for PowerPoint presentations by taking screen-captures of what I want to show. You should be able to insert a MapPoint map into powerpoint presentation, in a similar way as you can insert an Excel spreadsheet into powerpoint (or Word) - but you will need MapPoint to be installed on the machine giving the presentation. In my case, I knew that wouldn't be the case - hence the use of screenshots.

Add-ons and utilities can also be written for MapPoint, whilst S&T doesn't let you do this. For example, I've written a couple of custom utilities to extract route distances from MapPoint.
