Hi all,

I work for a Haitian NGO. We've started talking about the desire to map our operational data geographically. I've just started researching and learning about MapPoint. Does anyone have any advice?

We don't need a super high level of detail, but I do want to be able to map according to the GPS coordinates we have for our branch locations.

Hi JKurz2008,

MapPoint (Desktop version) appears to have major cities in Haiti only.
If that's all the detail you require, then MapPoint can easily deal with your coordinates.

For Haiti, you should probably also be looking at a solution that uses OpenStreetMaps.

There was a big effort earlier this year where users around the world added maps/etc from aerial photographs. This allowed people on the ground to use recent (ie. describing the situation only a few weeks previously) maps within a day or so of digitization.

OpenStreetMap data is free, but the apps that use it may charge license feeds.
