| Mappoint controls requiring Run CD The only problem is that if we try to use a full 'controls-only' installation of mappoint (no cd required), it fails, saying we don't have a license to run it. If we do a standard 'controls-only' install and use a run cd it works. We do not want to have to use a run cd on every single workstation this is installed on. What can we do? |

| Mappoint controls Run CD
On the mappoint 2002 setup cd there is directions to create an installation disc for using the mappoint controls in your own application. You delete the Setup.exe, Data.msi, and another couple of files from the root folder, then copy the files of the same name from the runtime folder. When you install using the new disc, everything looks the same as a normal installation, but there is no icons put on the dektop or start menu, and if you go right to the program folder and run it, it says something to the effect of 'This installation is licensed only for use within another program...'. Long Story short, I actually have to make a slight correction to this. If I run our app after doing a Runtime controls installation, I get the message that 'You do not have a license to use this activex control'. I tried this on another workstation with a full standard Mappoint installation and I got a slightly different message, but it still failed. Microsoft hasn't been much help, and I have only found a couple of references to this error message, and they didn't appear to be completely related. Help! |

| Mappoint License
I just registered, so I want to keep myself notified of the discussion. I called my one MS contact on this issue, and he said that there might be an issue using Mappoint 2002 with VS.NET. He actually referred to this forum as my best bet for the answer too. Bruce Sutherland |
