mappoint coordinate trouble WGS-stuff ?

Hello,
I am developing software to show the location of vicitms in disaster areas.
The positions are in WGS-84 format and we want to project them in mappoint 2002 Europe (trial for the moment) on the map.
Currently we are setting up an application which utilises MS-Mappoint Europe 2002 for projecting vehicle positions on the map in realtime.
We are actually creating a pushpin with the lat/loc coordinates to do this.
Our problem is that when we create a pushpin, it gets projected on the map but the position is incorrect.
There seems to be a deviation of approximately 10 kilometres...
When we use the location sensor tool to verify the position on the map , even the location sensor seems to measure a false lat/lon on the map.
We checked the map datum of the positions which is WGS84 . This is the format used also by MS-MAPPOINT , however we seem to notice this is probably not the case...
Is there any menu where we can setup the map datum or do we have another problem ?

P.S. When projecting this position on other mapping programs e.g. man 'n guide, police tracking systems, ... the position seems to be okay...

Could you advise me on this problem please ?

Thanks very much

What country(ies) are you working with? I've heard that coordinates are not good in Ireland. Can you try a different country and see if you have the same problem?

The other thing you have to make sure of is that you are using Decimals for the lat/lon, not degrees-minutes.

Examples

Correct:
-81.2346, 36.6923
10.5234, 44.9234

Wrong:
-70D 20M 15S, 20D 55M 24S
-05D 40M 59S, 50D 40M 10S

See this page for more info:

mappoint refreshes pushpin position updates very slowly...

Hello Eric,

Thank you very much for your help.
It seemed that the lat/lon format was decimal in mappoint and not dd/mm/ss.
Another question... Currently we are creating a dataset of pushpins to show positions, coming from a database, on the map.
However when we have more than 10 pushpins, that are updated every 30 seconds, the process of redrwaing the pushpins becomes very slow. Is there a solution for this problem ?
Currently we are using mappoint 2002 trial version for evaluation.

Best Regards & many thanks,
Tom

Hi, are you deleting and add new pushpins in the new position or moving existing pushpins? moving existing push pins is much faster
