I need to develop a software, in VB6, that colects GPS data from a datalogger, and shows in a map.
Can anyone help-me.

Hi,

Can you be more specific on what the exact problem is? eg:
- convert the format of the logged data ?
- put pushpins on a map ?
- other ?

Ok,
I'm developing, a project for my graduation, i will make a AVL (Automatic Vehicle Location), i'm having some problems with the maps in Visual Basic 6:
- i don't know what to use autoroute, Mappoint, or other software with maps.

Hi,

I dont know for the other mapping software but vehicle location is very easy to do with mappoint. You can display symbols (or bmp images) for each vehicle and (re)position these on the map at there gps location, zoom to it, or zoom to a complete fleet, display text balloon information, change symbol (or bmp) depending on vehicle state, etc...

So no problem at all for what you wants to accomplish. It is same kind of application I do with mappoint.

Hello Everybody,
I have a VB6 windows application and I need to add a new feature for plotting location to this application. Can someone guide me how to use mappoint for this. Do I need to install mappoint on my machine or only the ocx will work.

I installed the Mappoint Europe 2004 trial. Can some one give me, a small example in VB6, to work with the GPS and Maps.

Hi,

This will open a map:

Code:

                MP.NewMap(GeoMapRegion.geoMapEurope);

Also this will open a saved map:

Code:

                MP.OpenMap(FileName);

This will put a pushpin at a given GPS location:

Code:

            Location Loc = MP.ActiveMap.GetLocation(Lat, Lon, Alt);
            Pushpin PP  = MP.ActiveMap.AddPushpin(Loc, VehicleName);

You can then handle sumbol, ballon, highlighting etc:

Code:

            PP.Symbol = 1;
            PP.Note = SomeInformation;
            PP.BalloonState = GeoBalloonState.geoDisplayName;
            PP.BalloonState = GeoBalloonState.geoDisplayBalloon;
            PP.Highlight = true;

Pan map to that location:

Code:

            PP.GoTo();
            MP.ActiveMap.GoToLatLong(Lat, Lon, Alt);
