If I remember MapGuide correctly, these are very different products.. get a hold of a copy of the 60-day trial of MapPoint 2004. This is a desktop product that costs around $299 and includes data for North America (or Europe).

MapGuide is a web component for Internet mapping but I didn't think it includes much data if any.

As far as I know mappoint does not support positioning.
By the way I want to use it for maritime tracking and positioning.

Map&guide really does.

do you have any comparision list for both of the products. (incl. cost, function etc...)

MapPoint has little for marine tracking except water outlines, you might be better off with another product.. besides MapGuide, also see MapTech's charts.

I don't have a detailed comparison, I'm sure some people would love it if after you've done your research you post your findings back to this thread.

maybe a solution?

There a many applications that provide you with mapping functionality based on MS MapPoint 2004. enRoute is just one of them, but might give you everything you need.
