I am looking for a way that mappoint will let me route a commercial truck.
Is there an add in that anyones knows about that would route a truck over legal routes for a truck?

Hi,

Do you mean real time navigation ? Or calculate the route beforehand ? For the latter I can give you some code snippets, for the former I have not direct solution. There are products availabe. Check for example the thread AGPS on this forum.

Hi,

I have developed a routing-solution for trucks. You can download it under www.free-routing.com

Cheers

restricted roads?

I think guest "dnc915" means getting MapPoint to route using roads not restricted to non-commercial traffic. (No truck traffic). My experience with MP tells me MS won't be providing that data anytime soon. (Restricting by region is not a realistic option).

I asked the same question to MS reps at a developer's conference and got a diplomatic answer that translated to NO. As a long-time MS developer, developing with MP is increasingly disappointing. It's a great product that appears to be intentionally crippled for non-technical reasons.

QUESTION: Does anyone know of a pending upgrade? Will there be a desktop MapPoint 2005?

Matt
