    Mappoint speed control-slower using excel

    Gurus,

I have developed an excel file in which I am calculating driving time from our customer service center to destinations. I want to calculate time with all speed settings at slower. Please help me, which command in VB can set mappoint speeds to the slower, by default mappoint has "average" speed set. I have mappoint 2009.

    Thanks,

    Rahul

You can set the speeds directly using code. For example

    Code:
'---- UK vba example. Specify speeds by different class roads ----
        objApp.Units = geoKm
        objRoute.DriverProfile.Speed(geoRoadInterstate) = 90
        objRoute.DriverProfile.Speed(geoRoadLimitedAccess) = 65
        objRoute.DriverProfile.Speed(geoRoadOtherHighway) = 34
        objRoute.DriverProfile.Speed(geoRoadStreet) = 25
        objRoute.DriverProfile.Speed(geoRoadArterial) = 30

'---- Generate route between two postcodes ----
      objRoute.Waypoints.Add objMap.FindAddressResults(, , , , "KT17 4BT", geoCountryUnitedKingdom)(1)
      objRoute.Waypoints.Add objMap.FindAddressResults(, , , , "E4 7JA", geoCountryUnitedKingdom)(1)
      objRoute.Waypoints.Item(1).SegmentPreferences = 0 'find quickest route
      objRoute.Calculate
The default speeds for MP Europe 2009 are reported in this thread

    Mappoint 2009 speeds (Europe)

I donít know what the equivalent are for North America but I'm sure they can be tracked down.

    Davis,

Thanks for reply. I am looking for a code which picks slower speed in mappoint, it should not ask to set the speed limit. You can refer to the attachment picture I have attached.

    Thanks,

    Rahul

The parameters Eric refers to, set the same speeds in MapPoint's routing engine that the dialog box you posted does.

There is not speed limit (high or low), instead MapPoint uses those speeds as average speeds for each class of road.

Re: Mappoint speed control-slower using excel

    Hi Richard,

Thanks for your reply. I understand that code will take value I am assigning to speeds. Lets see the following example.
If I am setting freeway speed limit as 60 than it is going to consider 60 in all states. I want to use slower option from that dialogue box so if its michigan state where speed limit is 70 it should dial it down to 65 and if it is illinois where speed limit is 65 so it should dial down to 60. (We run buses)

I hope I am able to explain myself.

    Thanks,

    Rahul.

Re: Mappoint speed control-slower using excel

Hello, I'm using mappoint 2010, and there the default driving time settings are not expressed in km/u, but just indicated as "average" for each type of road. Does anybody know the exact settings? Does anybody know what the default settings are standing for? Car traffic of a normal driver, something like that? Hence, one of my customers is challenging the quality of my calculated driving time results...
