I am having difficulty getting MapPoint to accept data from my Trimble Placer 450 GPS. It connects through the laptop's serial port (Com 1). I can see data come across using a DOS utility. But when I try to use MapPoint, it can't detect the GPS unit on Com 1. If I try to track my position anyway, it gives me an error message telling me to make sure my GPS unit is set at 4800 bps. I've confirmed that the unit is sending in NMEA compliant format at 4800 bps. I am at a loss as to what else to try to get MapPoint to play well with my GPS unit. Does anyone have any ideas?
