we have problem making our .NET application working with MapPoint2006 on VISTA. I know this problem is discussed much in various forums. We have tried a large number of ideas and suggestions, but nothing actualy works.

We found, a bit strange, that if we installed VS2005 on same PC we got it to work fo a while. But we have no explanation why?

So - question is if anyone knows the very details (and latest) of why there is problems accessing MapPoint2006 from a .NEt application, when running on VISTA. and if there is an new resoltion for it.

What is the error?

Building in VS2005 for MapPoint 2006 and then installing on Vista works for me...

...and we tried changing the NXCOMPAT, it worked for one VISTA PC, but not for a number of others. So it seems this is not a "safe" problem fixer...

... we have also tried compiling the .NET solution/application on a Vista-OS and try the .exe produced, but it gives the same error....

So what we are really looking for is either of...
a) instruction of how to produce a .NEt application that works with MP on Vista?
b) advice that explains the very bottom reason why this behaviour is related to mapPoint on Vista - why is mapPoint working same as on XP?

So these posts were in Sept 2008 and I am in Jan 2009, has there been some answer that I have missed..
I am a novice but making good progress.
I am using VS 2005 w/ VB and MapPoint 2006 built on XP Pro and now have many programs that will do many things when deployed and installed on an OS of XP or MS2000. These all work perfectly.
My new problem is installing on Vista. The program installs BUT when run it “fails to load MapPoint”. MapPoint is loaded on the Vista machine and runs by it self but when called by my program it “fails to load MapPoint”.
I’ve seen the article “I’m just sayin” and others and they talk about adding a POST BUILD STEP of which I’ve seen at least 3 versions and none have worked for me.

1. call $(DevEnvDir)..\tools\vsvars32.bat
editbin.exe /NXCOMPAT:NO $(TargetPath)

2. call “$(DevEnvDir)..\tools\vsvars32.bat”
editbin.exe /NXCOMPAT:NO “$(TargetPath)”

3. call "$(DevEnvDir)..\..\VC\bin\vcvars32.bat"
call "$(DevEnvDir)..\..\VC\bin\editbin.exe" /NXCOMPAT:NO "$(TargetPath)"

Being the novice that I am you can see my confusion specially when my programs work so well on XP and 2000 and am I even barking up the right tree. Is there a fix for my scenario out there or what am I doing wrong.
