| From Mashups to Infrastructure Vancouver, BC, January 9th 2007—Conference organizers of GeoWeb 2007 today issued a Call for Papers. GeoWeb 2007 will again take place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, from July 23 rd to the 27 th. Conference meetings will be held at the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue. GeoWeb 2007’s principal theme, “From Mashups to Infrastructure”, reflects the breadth, the evolution and the growing maturity of the GeoWeb. This theme acknowledges the highly visible, consumer applications that helped spawn the GeoWeb while emphasizing that the GeoWeb is increasingly playing a meaningful role in mainstream, mission-critical applications. As such, the GeoWeb is now a key component in critical decision making across a broad spectrum of market segments and application domains. Conference papers will reflect topics such as, Web services, service-oriented architecture and business and policy issues that are relevant in the context of the GeoWeb. Connecting these topics to working solutions in specific, market segments is a key objective of this years conference program. As such, connections between the topics above and specific market or domain solutions should be evident in the papers themselves. Market segments of particular interest include nautical and aeronautical information systems; defense and homeland security; consumer and mainstream business services; municipal information systems and global spatial data infrastructure; disaster management/emergency response; environmental systems, energy and utilities applications; asset management and transportation and logistics. In addition, there will be one or more sessions devoted to technology innovations in the past year that impact the GeoWeb. Prospective speakers should submit abstracts no longer than 200 words and include the presentation title, the name of the presenter or presenters, the presenting organization and their preferred theme. Abstracts must be e-mailed to papers@geoweb.org by February 15th, 2007. To recap, GeoWeb 2007 is the second annual and exclusive event focused on the development and monetization of the GeoWeb. Last year, 90% of conference attendees responded that they will return to yet another GeoWeb conference. Organized via partnership between Galdos Systems Inc. (Galdos) and the Geospatial Information Technology Association (GITA), organizers expect another successful year and look forward to welcoming business leaders, senior decision-makers and technologists from around the globe. Complete information on the call for papers process may be obtained from the GeoWeb Web site, GeoWeb 2007 - Everything is Connected. For additional information, call Angie Murgel at 1.303.337.0513 or e-mail amurgel @ gita.org. About GeoWeb 2007: The GeoWeb conferences are about unleashing the economic potential associated with the convergence of XML, Web services, and geographic information systems, known as the GeoWeb. Organized via partnership between Galdos Systems Inc. (Galdos) and the Geospatial Information Technology Association (GITA), GeoWeb 2007 welcomes both public and private organizations to meet, discuss, and learn about today’s most innovative geospatial technologies and the possibilities related to this important technological shift. GeoWeb 2007 will include dedicated workshops on Geography Markup Language (GML), KML, MapPoint, LandXML, SVG, ebRIM, and OGC Web Services for GIS. |
