| Microsoft Map Point for Australia i am working for a company which is currently evaluating selection of either Microsoft Map Point Web Services or WebRaska Services. What i would like to know is keeping in mind both Webraska and Microsoft have tieup with 3rd party service provider for maps. Both the services provide location map plotted around parameters passed. What is the difference or value add Microsoft Map Point services will bring over webraska's as even webraska is offering API's for .NET coding. Cheers Sid |

Sid, I know absolutely nothing about Webraska and can only speak about MapPoint or in general terms. It really depends on your application and it's needs. Does MapPoint have all the functionality that you need? With MapPoint you can get detailed maps of Australia, directions, can upload custom POI data sets, which you can query on, being a web service it's environment agnostic. Hi, just wanted to know in continuation to the response like Webraska we need not to own any server enviorment. Is it true that with map point we will be required to setup Microsoft Map Point Server on own infrastructure to interface with our software for instance to configure custom POI. Or can we just do with the normal web service being offered and can use normal SOAP request to get the job done without owning Microsoft MAP POINT SERVER but just paid for web services. Cheers Sid |

Hello, MapPoint does not have a client side solution. All your requests will be to the MapPoint servers, if you are using custom POI data you can upload it to the MapPoint servers.
