Microsoft Virtual Earth Supporting Local News

Just a quick late night blog entry since these uses of Virtual Earth to support local news just came to my attention. It warms my heart to see when organizations whose business is to disseminate news to citizens recognize that it is best accomplished using a Virtual Earth map!

Here is KOMO in Seattle using Virtual Earth maps to demonstrate presidential primary locations.

And here is WBTV out of Charlotte North Carolina using Virtual Earth maps to highlight the location component of their general news stories. Why? Because a80-90% of all data has a geospatial component and can be best visualized on a map!

Lastly, here is a web site for Channel 5 in Chicago using Virtual Earth with Weather Central’s Online Application that powers NBC’s Weather.
