    Most recent .OCX version

    We are having a problem with turn-by-turn directions when calling MapPoint from our application with VB through the AP. I read Jonathan Oppelaar's Project54 post. He had the same "Proceed to Route" error that we experienced, but his solution was coded in C++, while we are using VB.

    I'm wondering if there is a more recent version of the MappointControl.cox file. If Microsoft has fixed the issue then we don't need to worry about coding changes. The version currently installed on one of our client machines is 17.0.19.2900. I've searched Microsoft's site but can't seem to find information on version releases of this file. Any thoughts from the community on this?

    Thanks,
    P

    I am also trying to implement turn-by-turn directions within my application.
    Are you using the ocx control? Or calling an instance of the mappoint application?

    How are you getting it to route from the current location?

    We are using the OCX control. When we call MapPoint from our application, the directions pane shows turn-by-turn directions. However, the voice keeps telling us to "Proceed to route," even though we are on the route. If we launch MapPoint outside of our application and then enter the address into the route planner, the voice turn-by-turn works fine.

    Any idea from you or anyone in the group about what may be happening... or not happening?

    Re: Most recent .OCX version

    I just came up with a solution that works flawlessly for my application.
    Rather than using the ocx control, I make my own instance of mappoint:

    MapPoint.Application myApp = new MapPoint.Application();
    myApp.Visible = true;

    map = myApp.ActiveMap;
    nav = map.GPSNavigation;

    With this I have a handle on the map as well as the navigation functions.
    What I did was created an invisible panel where the ocx control used to be, and set it up so that the instance I created would be directly behind it and positioned perfectly:

    map.Application.PaneState = GeoPaneState.geoPaneNone;
    map.Application.Top = -40;
    map.Application.Left = 0;
    map.Application.Width = 800;
    map.Application.Height = 775;

    Then I set tracking to true:

    nav.Tracking = true;

    Whenever I want to route, I clear the waypoints, add 1 waypoint, and call reroute():

    map.ActiveRoute.Clear();
    map.ActiveRoute.Waypoints.Add(Location, LocName);
    nav.Navigation = true;
    nav.Reroute();

    This works for me because I am using this application in fleet vehicles. The application is full screen, and set to always on top, so it makes no difference whether mappoint is in a control or behind an invisible panel. Not sure if this is ideal for your solution.

    How did you get tracking to work within the ocx control? I kept on getting access denied errors...
