Where has the ability to search for road or motorway exit/junction numbers gone in 2004 EUR? In 2002 EUR you could search for say

"M25 Exit 28"

MP would then take you to junction 28 on the M25.

NOT SO on 2004!!!!

Can someone help please, as I was supposed to be taking a rather large project forward from 2002 to 2004 on this previous functionality being available!!!!!

Looks like a bug to me, rather than an omission. If you add a motorway junction to a route, it justs adds '7' instead of 'M25 Exit 7'. Have you contacted Microsoft Support?

MS Tech support were very poor on this, they said that ms reserve the right to alter the product without notification, and as such bacause that it was never specifically included or advertised, then they have the right not to include it going forward, so it is not an issue.

AM I TO EXPECT THIS CUTTING OUT FROM FUTURE VERSIONS????? WITH OHTER CRUCIAL THINGS??????

I know that ms do get the junction/exit numbers on their feed from navtech & others.

1) I think the data has not been imported properly
2) I think the search engine is not working ( as I accept that the data is there but not properly labelled, therfore entering a junction number on its own ie 18, would be expected to return all j18's accross all motorways ---- uh uh , not so, just defaults to listing all postcodes)

This is absolutely disgraceful, the omission and the tech support.

It's possible they changed the provider of the points of interest and this data is no longer in there.. it's not a mistake.

You can search on pushpins, if you have the resources I think you can acquire the exit locations from the original POI provider, import them as pushpins, and then you could have that functionality.

Otherwise stick with the 2002 version.

The thing is the data is there, eg.

2002 would be say "M1 Exit 32"
2004 says "32"

this checks out on the feedback wizrds or location object after a find method call using the object model, it is a valid location object.

It's kind of an odd product. They have to negotiate every release regarding each data layer -- presumably often with different providers for the same layer. Sometimes a provider may not be willing to deal or want to raise the price and they will go with a different provider who will supply similar data at a lower price. The "credits" in the help file are long. Also, it's possible their budget is smaller or say they trade off being able to incorporate detailed streets for some areas and give up highways in Eastern Europe. That's just conjecture, but I assume they perform due diligence and try to get the most value into the product as possible for their customers given their resources.
